The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea

Yesterday morning, Saturday, we caught a train to London from the Edenbridge Station near the house. The conductor was a great guy who sold us 5 travel cards (Grandmother had a little R&R at home) for the price of 2, so our whole day of travel only cost us £7.45 each, a screamin' deal! We tubed to Notting Hill Gate and proceeded to Portobello Road. We had our traditional bratwurst lunch, which was as delicious as I remembered. We caught the #70 bus that took us through our old haunts and down Church Street to Kensington High Street. After picking up a few things, we took a #52 bus to Victoria, arriving (because of terrible traffic from a massive demonstration) just in the nick of time for an afternoon performance of Billy Elliot. It was terrific! I laughed, I cried, I pulsed to the music: smashing! We bussed back to Westminster where we caught the Jubilee Line to London Bridge, again arriving just in the nick of time to catch the train home. Kim has returned from the States, and we celebrated her birthday (today) at the Wheatsheaf, an ancient pub off in the middle of the hedges and fields. Parts of the building date back to the 14th century. Henry VIII is purported to have stayed there on his visits to Anne Boleyn at Hever nearby.

We are off to church this morning. I'm not sure what else will happen, but I will keep you posted.

That's all for now.

Anna: Nope. No walk past the centre. We did ride along Bayswater Road past Palace Court and had a look down the street, though.

Loving the posts uncle David! I think we should have planned a Boynton Family reunion at Matt and Kim's! Glad your having fun!
