Reno Finale

Monday evening we had a final fling at BJ's. The food was fine and the service was sooo much better than the last time we were there. Back at home we finished off the banoffee pie. Tuesday morning, we cleaned up, packed up, and headed up I-80 toward home.

Good thing we made 3 pies on Sunday

Farewell to the troops

The new house is great and we had a super visit. Thanks to the Hastings for being such fine hosts.

That's all for now.

Sunday and Monday Hikes

Sunday church starts at 1:00 P.M., so Rob and Anna took me for a four-mile walk up Thomas Creek. It was a beautiful day and a great hike. After church Anna and I made dinner for the family and the Brerertons. We redid the banoffee pie in honor of Phil Brererton who is a Manchester lad. We had a splendid evening of eating and visiting.

This morning after the kids left for school, we headed up the fire road behind R&A's home. Near the summit of yesterday's hike, we broke off onto a trail that wound its way up to the higher reaches of Thomas Creek. The trail took us all the way to the forest at the foot of the Sierras and the Thomas Creek Trail head. (That trail can lead you all the way to the top of Mount Rose or over the mountains to the Tahoe Rim Trail.) We went up the trail a few hundred yards before heading south to the White Creek Trail that led us back down to Saddlehorn and the home neighborhood. The whole loop was 1/4 mile short of 7.

Today's trail started in the sagebrush

We climbed higher and higher toward the mountains

Mount Rose appeared as we ascended

it comes down from the Sierras

Home again, home again...

How nice to live so close to these great trails and beautiful spots. I am very fond of Reno.

That's all for now.

Lake Tahoe

What a great day! First thing, the kids had practice with their ensemble; we were fortunate enough to see and hear them practice. They are good. After lunch we drove up to Lake Tahoe where we spent the rest of the afternoon. The weather was spring-like and made for a pleasant outing. We circumnavigated the entire lake with some stops for quick hikes and spectacular vistas along the way. We had dinner at Lupita's in Incline Village. Back home we ate ice cream and cookies, and the day finished with a haircut for Anders.
