4th of July 2013

It was a glorious Fourth, indeed. The kiddos went to the parade and watched in air-conditioned comfort from the Heirloom offices. At noon we went to the cabin for a pot-luck lunch. In the evening we moved to Steve and Tiffany's for water fun, visiting, supper, races, s'mores, Em's homemade ice cream, and fireworks. We missed Emily's pool, but the evening turned out very well. We could see fireworks all over the west part of the valley. We arrived home just in time to run to the park for a glimpse of the stadium fireworks.

Ready for the parade

Timpanogos to Heber

Tuesday, 2 July, we headed up Provo Canyon to the back side of Timp. We hiked the Timp Trail at Aspen Grove before heading up the Alpine Loop and down to Cascade Springs. We drove over the mountain on the dirt road to Heber Valley for lunch at Granny's. That evening we enjoyed an Indian nosh at Bombay House. It may have been overkill for Gavin who just returned from India.

Another Day, Another Trip to the City

With the arrival of the Hastings, the fun continued unabated. Cousin time doubled with the visit of the older generation. Louisiana was particularly interested in a FrontRunner trip to SLC and we were all pleased to give it another try. We spent some time at City Creek, visited Temple Square, and had gelato at Harmon's. We rode the Airport Line with Maren as far as the North-Temple Station, thence to FrontRunner and Provo. Maren continued on to the airport to meet Gavin.
