Paris 2021 Day Four

Today Lucy Jane arrived mid morning and we set off for the Arc de Triomphe. But there were problems on Line 7 of the Metro, so we tried to catch a bus. The busses were too packed for some of us and we hatched a plan using a different Metro line and eventually arrived. LJ climbed to the top of the Arc, where they are currently dismantling the Christo wrap. The fabric is gone and they are removing the structural underpinnings. SKT and AW took the Metro to the Tuileries where they waited in a café while we walked down the Champs Élysées. We stopped at La Durée for some treats, and finished our walk with a stop at, you guessed it, a Wallace Fountain for a cold, clear drink of water. We met the Taylor-Woodburys and crossed to the Left Bank for lunch at our favorite bistro, Les Antiquaires. The meals were delicious! We crossed back to the Louvre on the Right Bank, and then caught Line 7 of the Metro straight home. There we bid Lucy goodbye until tomorrow.

Today's French breakfast included kouign-amann: so good!

Waiting for the bus ride that never was

A stroll down the Champs Élysées

Macarons and pastries at La Durée

I have never been a big fan of macarons, but when in Paris... And these
are good. Lucy's cassis macaron was heaven: it turns out that cassis
is black currant, a huge favorite

I love water, and the cold, clear, delicious water that  runs
in the Wallace Fountains is a gift from the gods. Do you
know how much I love Wallace Fountains? Do you really?

Grandmother and granddaughter about to cross the
Place de la Concorde to the Tuileries

A spectacular fall afternoon in the Tuileries

Les Antiquaires in the Rue du Bac

Happy to be back, and it didn't disappoint

A beautiful pasta with pancetta, pear, a blue-cheese
sauce, and fresh herbs: spectacular!

Fall afternoon on the Seine

The Louvre on an perfectly beautiful fall day

Now that's not like anything you would see in Orem

The L is for La Durée, but we gave it to Lucy. Chocolate and
noisette cake is delicious

Off to the the market (for cream, etc.) through
the Place de la Contrascarpe, which is always lively.
We love our neighborhood

This was an absolutely beautiful day, and it was so nice to have Lucy with us. Tomorrow's plan is still under development, but there will be more.

OXO
