A Little Bit of This and a Little Bit of That

With Uncle Stephen's help, we have installed a "square-foot" raised planter box along the south side of the house. We were inspired by Millie and Colton's square-foot garden that they put in last year. I killed all the grass and weeds before we installed the box itself. With the box in place, we installed the drip irrigation system, amended the soil, installed trellises, completed the irrigation system, and planted the plants.

Katy is in town for a couple of weeks. The woman she cares for is in a special rehab program for the month, so with the generous gift of Debby's miles, Katy made a little ausflug. It turned out to be timely because she was not feeling great and Phil Freestone was kind enough to have a look at her poor uninsured body only to discover that she is infected in a place or two and also has mononucleosis. So she will be able to rest as much as she needs to and will be able to help us with our airport connections as we head back to Virginia for Anders' baptism. Nice timing.

On Sunday we went to Lehi for Katiana and Jeremy Goff's baby blessing. Young Christian David is very handsome, Katiana looks great, and the meal she prepared was spectacular. I put my sugar fast on hold to sample all her wonderful Brazilian desserts. The maracujá (passion fruit) mousse was heaven.

That's all for now.

1. Why won't Emily comment on my blog?
2. That garden looks pretty sweet. I am a bit jealous I am.
3. Why isn't Katy coming out for the baptism too?
4. Is Katy going to recover?
5. I want to be sitting next to Millie enjoying the progress of the project.

Personally speaking I think Dr. Freestone is a wonderful person only outshined by his lovely wife.

Also, good luck with your garden.

Today was very hot and humid here in Richmond, VA so be ready.

The garden does look fantastic. And I want to steal Katy's dress from her.

LOVELY! I am soooo desperate for a yard... so I can make some box gardens too! Patience. Patience.

Looks like a fab little "bit of earth, to plant a garden". Wish i could have been there to "supervise" too!

Everything looks grand, and I learned a new word from your blog. Had to look up ausflung- like it.

Anna:

Katy isn't coming because she doesn't have a ticket to VA for this weekend, but for later in the month (as you are likely aware).

Katy is already recovering nicely

Emily won't comment on your blog because, though she got us all into blogging, she has become a blogging failure and a lurker; her heart belongs to Facebook.

Hilary:

Ausflug is a holdover from high-school German, but it still rolls off the tongue with ease.
