Yesterday, Saturday, before and between conference sessions, we tore into the pantry, trying to reestablish some semblance of order. BUT, this reorganization was driven in part by a new awareness created by
In Defense of Food. In so far as possible we will be trying to eat "real" food, not manufactured "food-like substances" made from processed corn with jillions of other ingredients (many of which are unknown and scary), and gobs of additives, added in a vain attempt to make them "nutricious." So, out went all the junky cereal and prepared foods.

These bad boys went into the dumpster (enlarge and read the ingredients)

These guys found a place back on the shelf: one of the few cold cereals
that seems to be real food (enlarge and compare these ingredients with the last bunch)

Katy works her magic on the pantry

Ahhhh, loverly and with lots more room for real food
Later in the afternoon, Anna, Meagan, Phillip, Millie, and the kids popped in. The ladies all made a delicious supper, fed us, and then sent Phillip and me to the Priesthood session.

It was a fun and productive day and conference was great. President Monson's ear wiggle talk in the Priesthood session will go down in history.
OXO

Looks Fab! I am afraid that if I did that I would have nothing left to eat! We are trying to buy better however!
Wow, what a revolution! Good for you Dickie.
I promise I'll join in someday.
It was fun to come down, and kudos for dumping the crap!
Missed the ear wiggling talk. He's a pretty funny guy. Who knew?
I am impressed and inspired! I have been trying to slowly move my kids from junk to whole, healthy foods, I am afraid that if I took your drastic measures I would have 3 hunger strikers on my hands. I guess they'd have to eat someday though. Good for you.
Looks good! What a way to spend the day :) Wish we were here for dinner! Too bad!
I have sort of been thinking along the same lines; as little packaged, processed stuff as possible, if for no other reason than the loads of sodium you find in such things. idb
Ian: pick up a copy of In Defense of Food, by Michael Pollan. It is a quick but enlightening read.

Nice work Uncle Dave.
Congrats!! I'm feeling inspired by you. I put a hold on In Defense of Food at my local library, but I'm #16 on the list....so maybe I should just make the trip over to B&N.
