The Party

Thursday night before the wedding we held a party for Katy and Daniel in Santiago's back yard. It was a hot day, but the evening was pleasant with a gentle breeze and lots of shade. There were root beer floats, Mexican creamy fruit bars, delicious frosted sugar cookies, and plenty of iced water. There was lots of jumping on the trampoline, and eventually, dancing. It was informal and lots of fun.

The Final Push

Wednesday 20 June was the final push to get everything ready for the reception and subsequent wedding. On Thursday 21 June everything went into place at the Santiago's and I spent the afternoon collecting root beer, ice cream, cookies, water, ice, and dry ice from the four corners of Utah Valley. By Thursday evening everything was ready to go.

Let the Festivities Begin

On Wednesday 13 June I dropped Meagan and the kids at the SLC Airport as they headed for Hawaii. We know they are  having fun, but we missed them at the wedding. The week leading up to the wedding was filled with a mad scramble to get the bathroom at the Colver house put back together. Many thanks to Phillip, John Woolf, an Grant Rencher for their help. Having blown out my knee tearing out tack strip, I have been pathetically useless.

On Monday 18 June I started teaching summer-term classes (my last before retirement). Tuesday, June 19th, Katy's sisters hosted a shower for her at the Ringers.

It's Theirs

On Tuesday, after a few harrowing moments when the unbalanced seller looked like she might back out, Katy and I went to SLC to close on their house. By late afternoon yesterday it had funded and it officially became Katy and Daniel's house (and I guess mine, technically). So now the real work begins.

At the title company

721 North 1200 East

Proud and happy

All this stuff will soon have a home

So will this, as well as the stuff in Uncle's basement

The living room after "crime-scene" cleaning

Kitchen

Family room at the rear of the house

Master bedroom ready for wallpaper stripping

Back bedroom -- likely an office (note the art on the walls)

Daniel strikes the first blow

Conquering the Hydra

There will be lots of work ahead, but that's all for now.
