San Diego 2017 Day Two

Tuesday 21 March was a beach day. We drove south, crossed the bridge to Coronado, and proceeded to Silver Strand State Beach. We chose that beach because it is remarkably free of people considering that it is spring break. The sand is full of silver glitter and the beach is littered with shells and sand dollars. We stopped at the Hotel del Coronado for a bit of time at the beach and tide pools among the rocks. We found some lovely creamy ice cream at the hotel before heading home to shower. We went back downtown for dinner at Sultan Baklava, a fine Middle-Eastern eatery we discovered last time we were here. The final stop of the evening was Seaport Village.

San Diego 2017 Day One

It is spring break for the Young kids, so Monday 20 March we headed to California for a few days in San Diego. We traveled through Imperial Valley and Blythe, which brought back memories of the 50s with my parents when we traveled there. We arrived at our nice Airbnb and settled in before going for a sushi supper. We arrived at Mission Beach in time to catch the sunset and played there in the dark for a couple of hours. We stopped at Ralph's Market for some supplies before turning in.

February 2017

We didn't stray far from home in February, but it was good nonetheless. Lots of snow, lots of melting, and lots more snow. Good morning walks, and walks with Evy who is now very excited to "walk" with Pop Pop. The feeling is mutual. There was a Valentine's visit from Debra Sue Darling Gibbs, which is always fun. Phillip planned and executed a fun party for Meags' birthday, and Hank and Colette were in town for Kelsey's baby's blessing. Family dinners and cousins breakfasts as always. Of course we had a fun theater date at Hale Center, so much was as usual.

We are so close to the mountains that even when nothing shows on
radar, we still have snow -- Argh!

We have a some fun travels planned for March, so there will be more, but this is all for now.
