Paris 2024 Day Five

Spent the morning sleeping in, doing laundry and finally got out the door around noon. We met Annie at the Église de la Madeleine. We were on foot on the chi chi boulevards and in the posh neighborhoods of the 1st and 2nd Arrondissements. Annie finally got to see the Arc de Triomphe up close and personal. Home by way of the grocery store. Dinner at the Vieux Bistro with Lucy Jane, and now home to bed.

I had hoped not to have to look at this guy's face in Paris, but it
was on every news stand!

La Église de la Madeleine (late 18th early 19th century)

Just completed a multi-year restoration

Mary Magdalene with angels; her bone is in another
cubby over a different altar

These put me in mind of pioneer temples and fancy
frontier hotels

Annie and Kris in the portico of La Madeleine

Gucci won me over with models of houses

Risking life and limb on the Champs-Élysées

That's a whoppin' arch

Alway cool your heels when you can

Down the Champs-Élysées

Sunset out our back windows

Moonrise out the front windows

Bottom of our street: off to dinner

Vieux Bistro

Tartiflette au reblochon: best funeral potatoes ever

This is what brilliant engineering/physics students
from the best school in France do
for fun: YMCA

We have and adventure planned for tomorrow, so there will be more.

OXO
