Provo to Mesa . . . on a Plane!

On Thursday 6 June I flew to Arizona to drive Maren and the boys to Utah. That's grand and all, but the exciting part was that Alegiant flies from PROVO!!! to MESA!!! Grandmother and the aunties flew up on the reverse flight. The skies were clear and the view all the way down I-15 and Highway 89 was spectacular.

Maren picked me up in Mesa and we drove to Tia Rosa's, of course. The trip preparations all went smoothly and Friday we headed north. Highway 89 between Bitter Springs and Page is closed because a land slide collapsed 500 yards of the road. Things are so unstable it will take years to make repairs. Consequently we drove up 89A which turned out to be a beautiful drive.

Grandmother and the aunties arrived in Provo
while I awaited departure

So nice just to drive down to the Provo Airport

The Grand Canyon from 35,000 feet

 Lunch at Tia Rosa's

We swung by the Phoenix Temple which is nearing completion

A detail of the spire

Gavin the Engineer, secured the bikes

 On the road

 Finn is smile-challenged

The visitors center at Navajo Bridge

 A warm alfresco lunch

 Beckham and his mommy

 Lunch in the real Carsland

Old and only somewhat newer Navajo Bridges

Marble Canyon

 Smile boys

That'll do 'er

Home to the beautiful land of mountains and orange barrels

The trip was pleasant and we are ready for a fun month with kids while Gavin is in France and India. He will join us by the 4th of July. There are more adventures in the offing, but this is all for now.

OXO

P.S. Thanks to Maren for a few of her photos.

What a beautiful drive! And convenient flights are indeed the best.

That flight is the coolest thing ever. Now for them to do the Reno to Provo flight. The drive looks lovely.
