Today, on this Hurricane-Irene morning, Mom, Mike Gibbs, and I attended sacrament meeting at the Provo Peaks 2nd Ward where Phillip was sustained as second counselor to Bishop Kevin Santiago. Phillip made very nice remarks and bore his testimony in the meeting. Afterward we met in the bishop's office where I ordained Phillip to the office of High Priest prior to his being set apart. Meagan hosted a lunch at their home for family members. Phillip was unable to attend because he was doing recommend interviews and counting tithing: in at the deep end. It was a nice day.

The Gibbs who are here reinstalling Chelsea at BYU were concerned about Graham and their home on the Long Island Sound, but all went well. I had a similar report from Anna in Virginia this morning. Things were calm enough after the storm in the night that she and Rob were out walking when I called. All is well, but that's all for now.

Congrats to Phillip! Unfortunately, after he's released (and no longer working with the Aaronic Priesthood), he'll be condemned to attending the High Priests' Group for the rest of his life.
Okay, lets face it, that is kind of trippy. Phillip in the bishopric! He'll be great, but still, its kinda strange.
He will do a wonderful job I am sure! Do you move up to High Priest's just becuase you are in a Bishopric?
PS iPads the new must have for Bishoprics! He looks spiffy
PPS Glad all is well with our East Coasters any word from Will and Jamie?
Maren: iPads seem to be de riguer; our last bishop used one, and as you noticed, both Phil and Kevin have one in hand.
The scriptures say blessed little about the duties of a high priest, but one of the things they do, according to the D&C, is serve as bishops counselors.
We have no report on Will and Jamie, but I haven't been thoughtful enough to ask Stephen.
Well that's exciting for Phillip, congratulations. Although from what I hear, it's really hard to go back to attending all 3 meetings when you're released...
Wish I could have been there... Congrats to Pippy!!
