During the week leading up to Labor Day, we had a nice visit from the NY Gibbs as well as a visit from Alison Gibbs. We ate and visited and when Michael arrived at the end of the week, we even had a slide show, something we haven't done for ages. The holiday itself, like last year, was another Lethargy Day with not much action. The lethargy was shattered at about 6:30 by a phone call from Anna in Sigurd, UT. She and her family, along with the Wieses, were returning from a brilliant trip to Southern Utah. Anna informed us of a fender bender that had left their radiator useless. They needed to leave the car in Richfield and had no way home (Todd and Courtney's car was too small for their gang). Katy was good enough to ride with me as we set off on an adventure to bring the Hastings home. The round trip from Provo to Richfield, Richfield to Salt Lake City, and SLC to Provo took a few hours, but we were in bed by around midnight. It was good fun laced with conversation, Mama Mia tunes, and the soft snoring of worn-out chilluns as we sped up the highway. I'm glad we could help. (Thanks to Anna for the Richfield photos.)
It's Wednesday and life is back on an even keel with school and work. So, that's all the excitement for now.
OXO

What a nice weekend! How fun to have the Gibbs to stay! You are a true hero way to go!
I can see you have done some red eye reduction, which is goood otherwise I might look like the devils sister with my unwashed hair and lovely sweats! (Just for the record, I have not given up on life, I just didn't get dressed on Labor Day cause I didn't feel like it!)
Thank you very much for the rescue. Rob's mom has sent a gift card to See's chocolates and some mac nuts for y'all, to thank you for the stay at the Happiness hotel. We thought we might regift them as a thank you from us. But we won't do that, I guess, cause it would be kind of slimy.
Thank you for helping us out with that. Always nice to have people to count on...Rob and Anna didn't seem to keen on strapping children to the top of our car for the ride home. Oh well.
PS what is the series you are reading about?
Maren:
It is the Maisie Dobbs detective series. Set in London and southern England. They are fun reads.
