Vernal with the Aunties

The week before the wedding, on Tuesday 16 July, we headed east to Vernal to visit Auntie Katy. After lunch at Freddie's, Katy took us to Dinosaur National Monument, which I hadn't visited for years. The dinosaur bits were fun and interesting, but the park, which extends into Colorado, is beautiful. That evening, Katy, served us a delicious butter-chicken dinner. It was a delightful day.

Waiting for the Wedding: July 2019

With just over two weeks until the wedding, we filled our days with adventure: Albion Basin hike, La Casita (again), canal walks, Springville Art Museum, house hunting in Spanish Fork, SLC to Orson Gygi, porch sitting every morning and evening, new beech tree in the front yard, P712, Hale Center Theater, scouting Madi's wedding venue and Sundance, dancing, and MLM fun. The kids did several other things like Thanksgiving Point and Hangtime, but the things shown here are where I participated, too.

Thistles spotted on a morning walk

Pennies found in the road on another morning walk

Albion Basin hike with the girlies

Albion Basin is at the top of Little Cottonwood
Canyon near Alta

We were too early for most of the wildflowers,
but saw the beginnings of the wildflower season

 Aspens in Little Cottonwood Canyon

 Little Cottonwood Creek

 Happy hikers headed home

 Lunch was a daily affair

Everyone loves La Casita's chips and salsa

We just can't seem to get enough

Baby ducks on a canal walk

Walking in the canal is evidently the best thing ever

The older folks stuck to the pathway

Traditional human pyramid at the Maeser Building

 Springville Art Museum

 Kid stuff

I love this Maynard Dixon painting

Looking at new houses in Spanish Fork

Bea and Evy on another canal walk

Bea wants to do a canal walk for her birthday party

 Homeward bound on Birch Lane

After buying cake pans at Orson Gygi, Annie took us to the Tea
Rose Diner in Murray for a delicious Thai lunch

 Sunset thrilled the porch sitters

A new beech tree in the front yard

P712 is back in Colton's care and is wonderful

 An assortment of pizza

 Meatballs and short ribs

HCT does it again: delightful production

What's a trip to Sundance without suckers?

They are good! Just ask Beckham

The aunties dancing to Abba's Super Trooper

Clara masterminded an MLM scheme to make and sell oils and
perfumes made from lavender and other plants -- the creative fun
kept the kiddos entertained for several days: boredom is the mother
of creativity!

All that fun, plus a trip to Vernal, kept us busy right up to Madi's wedding week when preparations kicked into high gear. So there will be more but this is all for now.
