Santa Fe, Fall 2021

I flew to New Mexico to spend ten days with Clara while her parents had a wonderful adventure in France with Lucy Jane. I always enjoy Santa Fe, and Clara and I had a splendid time. I cooked some meals and ran the school shuttle. On Sunday, Clara arranged a morning in town, which is always a treat.

This is not the quickest way to the airport, but kind of fun

September 2012

September started with a visit from Mark, who met Anne halfway between AZ and WY for a weekend get together. We shared several meals with Annie and Opa, and we hosted the September group dinner. We made a quick day trip to Vernal for Arthur's birthday, including dinner at the Vernal Brewing Company. We had another post-vaccination cousins breakfast in Salt Lake City. September also included a trip to Santa Fe for Dickie. I stayed with Clara while Rob and Anna enjoyed visiting Lucy Jane in France. That trip will be a separate post, to follow when I get back to Provo.

August 2021

We stayed put this August, but life wasn't dull. The craziest thing is that a birthday check Kris sent to Erick months ago, was finally cashed for $1,000.00! It had been stolen, "washed," forged, and cashed. Long story short, we had to close our checking account and Kris spent many days getting all our auto-withdrawals and auto-deposits up to speed with the routing number and new account number. Lots of forms, scanning, notarizing, and hours of phone calls. It was a mess! It's all Venmo from now on. We made a quick visit to Vernal and Roosevelt for a celebratory late and early birthday lunch for Daniel and Evelyn. We were thrilled to get our global entry cards in the mail this month, so we are one step closer to our Paris trip. After over a year without our Hansen/Calder cousins, we finally got together again for breakfast. Meagan spent the end of the month with us. She was here to get Oliver installed at BYU.

Montana Reunion and the Rest of July 2021

With the departure of the family, we washed linens and cleaned the Happiness Hotel in preparation for its transformation into an Airbnb for Kim and Brigham. We hopped in the car and headed north to Salmon, Idaho, en route to the Hansen Cousins' Reunion in Kalispell, Montana. The drive was beautiful, but smokey as the West Coast burned. The reunion started the next evening at Cam and Sheila Calder's lake house on Lake Blaine. The reunion was great, with good food, wonderful visiting, Cdh1 updates, a slide show of the ancestors and previous reunions, and various daytime activities on our own. We returned home to spend a few days with the Marlpit-Hill Boyntons and dinner with Rod and Vic at Sicilia Mia in SLC. The month ended with a Saturday dinner out with Opa and Annie.
