Close to Home

Yesterday, Monday 20 May, we stayed close to home working on Debby's house application and other computer-related projects. We also had time to finish season 11 of Project Runway. I am always gobsmacked by what these designers are able to do -- I am always genuinely fascinated. Later in the afternoon we drove to Lake Houston for supper at Cimichurri Restaurant that features South-American food.

We have had a great time here, but head home today, so that's all for now.

Sunday Dinner

Sunday, 20 May, as you might imagine, we went to church. Afterwards we put together a traditional Sunday dinner of roast, potatoes and gravy, and asparagus. We were joined by Chris and Gisela for a nice afternoon of food and conversation.

As Holden would say, I was girl-trapped

A nice day finished with some more Project Runway. That's all for now.

Atascocita

Saturday, 18 May, we spent some time in Atascocita, just across Lake Houston from Kingwood. Kris and I drove with Alison and Gordon to see the model home of the one they will be building. We met Debby back at the ranch and then proceeded to Lowe's to look at floors and colors for her new house. There is a new Lupe Tortilla in Atascocita, near Lowe's, where we had lunch. We returned home before heading to the movies. We saw 42, which was a nice reminder of how far we have come with race relations. We watched several episodes of Project Runway and ate leftovers before heading to bed.

Westheimer

Yesterday, Friday 17 May, we went downtown to Westheimer Road. Debby had me drive, so she could do some business on the phone. First stop was Nordstrom Rack to return a sweater. I had some good Jack-Reacher time and the ladies "gathered." We had lunch nearby at the Grand Cafe Lux. It was really good and the atmosphere was great: Beaux-Arts/Art Deco, with a Hollywood, over-the-top quality. We proceeded east on Westheimer to Central Market to get some groceries. Now THIS is my kind of shopping! It is a fantastic place with anything and everything you could ever want from just about every place in the world. I would be so pleased to have a place like this in my area, but, alas....
Home again to make Coronation Chicken, snack on all kinds of goodies, and watch some Project Runway. Alison and Gordon came in a bit later and spent the night.

This place is fabulous!

Love this place (and these girls)

That's all for now.

The Woodlands

Tuesday, 16 May, we spent the day in the Woodlands. The ladies had some quality time at Sam Moon's huge accessory emporium and I read my Lee Child/Reacher book in the shade. Quite miraculously, Debby couldn't find her credit card, dumped the contents of her bag, and found John's wedding band, which had been lost for some time. She was thrilled! We had lunch at Zoe's, a tasty fresh food place with a Mediterranean twist. Debby popped into her doctor to have her skin-cancer incision checked before heading to the Chappell's house, which will soon be her new home. I think it will be great for her. We spent an hour or so before dinner at the Woodlands Mall and then joined Alison and Gordon for dinner at Jasper's. It was delicious, but I am still stuffed this morning.

A fun day that left me stuffed! I am not sure what today holds, but something for sure. This however is all for now.

Texas: Wahoo!

Yesterday, 15 May, Annie drove us to the SLC Airport on her way to work. We flew to Houston and Debra Sue met us at the airport. We drove to Westheimer to Houston's for a late lunch and then further down to the heart of town to the Sundance Cinema to see (coincidentally) Robert Redford's The Company You Keep. We drove back to the River Oaks area on Westheimer to Crescent City Beignets for some, surprise, beignets. Home to settle in and watch an episode of this season's Project Runway.

Mayday!

The end of April and beginning of May have been full of interesting stuff: a ward fundraiser, Ollie turned 10 (no photos), Suzi Stratford Hines came to visit (no photos), Kris retired, we fell in love with a cheap fish taco place, Kris planted some great containers, we began walking in the mornings, We toured the new Provo Recreation Center, another section of 900 east was given over to construction, BYU closed East Campus Drive forever to make way for a new and improved pedestrian friendly campus, and we had a nice brunch at H&C's cabin with cousins George and Debra, recently returned from the Philippines MTC. So it's all been good.
